Shooting Scars was an incredible story that continued with Ellie’s adventures. In this book we are able to see Ellie’s and Camden’s POV since the last time they parted their ways. Being inside of Camden’s head was incredibly refreshing and was interesting to see what he had to go through in order to “save” Ellie.

“I'd be there no matter what she chose, even if she wanted another lover, another life, I would still be there when she fell. When she wanted to run. When she wanted to come home.”

Ellie is now being captive by Javier and regrets making her choice. She doesn’t know what is happening with Camden but one thing for sure: there is something that Javier wants from her and she has no choice but to listen to him. Old feelings for him are gone but after traveling to Mexico for their mission, she is torn and confused because her heart says one thing but her mind and body – another.

“We were only our bodies, only our lust, and, maybe, just maybe, only two tortured souls.”

Camden decided to start his life over with Sophia with his son but doesn’t know if she truly trusts him. After a little mix up with her family, he contacts Gus about his new documents. But what happens throughout his journey after he decides to go after Ellie and save her, changes him from in side out.

“When you had nothing, you had to take what you could get, even if you knew it would hurt you in the end. A love that starts out under a lie is bound to kill you, and sometimes you lived to tell the tale.”
