Just breathe, Kacey. Ten tiny breaths. Seize them. Feel them. Love them.
Four years ago Kacey Cleary’s life imploded when her car was hit by a drunk driver, killing her parents, boyfriend, and best friend. Still haunted by memories of being trapped inside, holding her boyfriend’s lifeless hand and listening to her mother take her last breath, Kacey wants to leave her past behind. Armed with two bus tickets, twenty-year-old Kacey and her fifteen-year-old sister, Livie, escape Grand Rapids, Michigan, to start over in Miami. Struggling to make ends meet, Kacey needs to figure out how to get by. But Kacey’s not worried. She can handle anything—anything but her mysterious neighbor in apartment 1D.
Trent Emerson has smoldering blue eyes, deep dimples, and he perfectly skates that irresistible line between nice guy and bad boy. Hardened by her tragic past, Kacey is determined to keep everyone at a distance, but their mutual attraction is undeniable and Trent is determined to find a way into Kacey’s guarded heart—even if it means that an explosive secret could shatter both their worlds.
“I don't hate you. I could never hate you. Give me your heart, Kacey. I'll take everything that comes with it."Ten Tiny Breaths is a book about Kacey and Trent who are two people that should never have started to have feelings for each other. After a tragic accident, Kacey is lucky to be alive but even after 4 years she cannot get over the fact that almost everyone that she loved is gone. Now it’s only her and her sister Livie, running away to start a new life. The nightmares, the pain, the memories are always with her and the only way she can forget it is kickboxing and trying not to let anyone close to her until she meets Trent.
Trent was everything she ever wanted. The way he made Kacey feel scares her but she cannot deny her attraction to him. She lets him inside of her head and heart and wants him to make her happy, to forget everything that she went through. That is until she learns who Trent really is…
I heard a lot of buzz about this book but didn’t want to jinx anything because it seems like that every single time I hear good stuff about a book, I always get disappointed. But I loved every single page of Ten Tiny Breaths. The writing, the story, the characters… Everything about the book made me love it and it’s hard to even write this review because my emotions are all over the place after reading this book. Definitely one of my new favorites!
