  1. YES! I do and and I'm not afraid to admit it. :D I believe that authors and publishers should understand that covers are like 60%+ of the publicity for general consumers. Especially for debut authors.

  2. Yes, I do. But sometimes it can be helpful. When I see the covers that are all romacey and shirtless, I know to avoid those because there's a chance there are not paranormal--even though there are paranormals that look like that! But I can still tell that romance might be playing a greater role in the story and that I won't enjoy it as much.

But yes, totally do. And it's not done in a mean way but a cover is sometimes a peek at what the book will be like and if I don't like the cover, chances are I won't like the book. Unless it's already from an author I like then I will read it regardless! :)

  3. Yes, I most definitely judge a book by the cover! However, I will read something with a horrible cover, if the reviews warrant giving it a chance.

  4. I usually judge books by their cover, though if a synopsis sounds good enough I'll read it no matter what!

    ReplyDelete
  5. Most definitely! I've almost missed out on a couple of good books because I do too. I can't help it though!

    ReplyDelete
  6. I definitely do judge a book by it's cover. It's the first thing I see and it has the ability to sway me into reading the summary and the book. Very important I think. Thank you so much.

  7. Hate to say but I really do. The book has to call out to me when I'm going up & down the aisle. There is always that small voice that tells you that it's okay to judge. Your paying, right?

    ReplyDelete
  8. I often read books based solely on the cover! I've found some great books that way!

    ReplyDelete
  9. I don't judge the content but I'm always way more drawn to a book with a gorgeous or eye-catching cover.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I totally judge a book by its cover, and usually, the covers that I am attracted to more, I like better

    ReplyDelete
  11. I have been known to, but not always.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Haha yes I do :) It's what makes me interested enough to read the back for the synopsis.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I think everyone judges books by their cover . . . but maybe I do it a little more than most haha. If I don't like a cover I'll search tirelessly for a different edition before buying it. My books must be pretty dammit! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  14. I definitely do! I think it's impossible not to :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. I often do. It's not that I will not buy a book that sounds good because it has an ugly cover, but sometimes, even though the book might not sound like something amazing if it has an awesome cover I will probably get it.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Sometimes--I've bought books before just because they were beautiful having no idea what they were about

    ReplyDelete
  17. I really do. The cover is usually what draws me to a book but I'll read the synopsis of most books if I like the title, haha. Thanks for the giveaway :)

  18. I totally do! I always get books from the library with pretty covers and with few exceptions they're usually not very good xD I really need to stop picking them up because of the cover :P

    ReplyDelete
  19. I do sometimes! And I get so disappointed when a pretty cover has a horrible story inside.

    ReplyDelete
  20. There's definitely a little cover judging going on here. A cover can totally sell me on a book I was unsure about before!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I can definatly factor in sometimes...If it is a book I have heard good things about, no the cover does not factor in, but if I notice a book browsing a book store, then yes, I do notice the cover first...guilty as charged...

  22. Absolutely, I judge books by their cover. It's kind of like food.....part of the taste is the appearance.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I do... But it lets me down a lot. I've read a lot of pretty books that are awful inside.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Um, yeah, most of the times. The cover is what I see before the blurb.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Can't help it! I do it every time and don't feel sorry about it :)

  26. the cover can catch my interest but i won't buya book solely on teh cover i alaways check the summary or back cover before taking a decision

    ReplyDelete
  27. Sometimes hehehe A pretty cover usually catches my attention but I don't buy a book just for a pretty cover.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I do... I do give all books a chance but pretty ones are more likely to be picked up first. This is a bad habit I know but it's so hard to break!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I've never not picked up a book because of it's cover, but I have been known to buy pretty books even though I'm not that interested in the plot

    ReplyDelete
  30. yes, sometimes yes, im attracted to colorful covers! but the plot its the main thing!
    thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I absolutely judge books by their covers. It would take lots of great reviews and multiple recommendations for me to possibly consider overlooking an ugly cover. Maybe that makes me shallow, but it's how I am.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I do, sometimes but most of the times, even though the cover is horrendous, as long as the plot's earth-shakingly good, I'd go for it :)

  34. Cover is the first thing I see so yeah, I do.

  35. Awesome giveaway! I totally judge books by their covers!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yes, a beautiful cover will make me pick up a book and read the synopsis and if I like it then buy it but I rarely pick up books when I don't like the cover. Only when it's a favorite author.
Thank you for the giveaway :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Definitely, YES!!! The nice thing about this, I am usually right about the book being good. Sometimes a cover screams at me.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Most of the time a cover is what makes me notice a book. If the art is nice, yes I will pick up a book to see what it's about. Oftentimes, it is just as much the title of a book too, though.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Sometimes Yes. But most of the time i judge thru the synopsis of the book.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Yes, I'm a book cover judger. Sometimes I will read books blindly because of the cover. :P

    ReplyDelete
  41. Absolutely! At least 95% of the books I read are chosen due to their cover and/or title. I rarely read the synopsis of books.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I definitely do judge a book by it's cover. 90% of the time I have picked a good book to read.

    ReplyDelete
  43. A lot of my reading depends on the cover. As long as the cover is gorgeous, I'm keeping it :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. I do, kind of. A book's cover will initially attract me to it, but if it doesn't sound like something I'd like, I won't read it. Inversely, if I come upon an awesome synopsis but the cover is crap, I will still give it a shot. I think the cover is super important for the books I just wasn't quite sure about- they can make or break a decision that way I think.

    ReplyDelete
  45. *whispers* I have been known to buy a book based on cover alone :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yeah, I totally do! I'm a very visual and artsy person so if a cover is spectacular, I get more excited about reading a book! :)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Yes, absolutely I judge a book by its cover.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I do believe I'm guilty of that...

    ReplyDelete
  49. Most of the time, I do judge a book by its cover, only because it's the first thing that I see and if it's a different, unique, or interesting cover then chances are I'm definitely going to pick it up and take a peek inside at the pages and the synopsis. :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Sometimes :/

  51. Yes, I do. If I'm in love with the cover, even if it's a slightly more expensive edition, I'd find myself putting out the money simply because I must have that cover. This happened to books like Ready Player One, Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson (the pretty white covers with the sketches on them) and the Lunar Chronicles. Thank you for the giveaway, enjoy your day. :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. I really do. I've bought books just because they have a pretty cover before and if I don't like a book cover but the reviews make me think twice about it I'll only buy it as an ebook so I don't actually have to look at the cover at all, haha.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Of course! I think everyone does, to some extent. Pretty covers will always lure me in, but a book has to have a good synopsis (and Goodreads ratings) for me to pick it up.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I do judge books by their cover, but I never get a book without reading it's blurb or review.

    ReplyDelete
  55. To be honest a good cover does make me want to read the book.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Yep, I do! If a cover catches my eye then I'll definitely look into it more to see what it's about. Thanks for the giveaway!!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Yes ahahahaha but I'm working on it ;)

    ReplyDelete
  58. Sometimes...but some of my favorite books have awful covers;)
    Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I do. If the cover looks good I'm more likely to read it. If it looks like a bad photoshop job i won't read it. lol

    ReplyDelete
  60. I do judge a book by the cover . Deep Blue has such a gorgeous cover but I really didn't like the book. I'm looking forward to reading The Midnight Thief.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Guilty ad charged! :) I actually bought a few of them just based on the cover alone.
    Thanks for a giveaway! :)

    ReplyDelete
  62. I do... sometimes. If I don't like the cover I usually wont read the synopsis. Oops;)

    ReplyDelete
  63. Yes! Sometimes the cover is all it takes to make me add it to my TBR pile. :)

    ReplyDelete
  64. I kind of do, to an extent. Covers are a good indicator of genre. Then again, I really don't like the Vampire Academy covers but love the books, and the reverse is true of the WIcked Lovely books. So I judge by description too.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Yes :) Sometimes I need to see if the cover is cool and I determine the genre by the cover :D

    ReplyDelete
  66. Yup!! It's a difficult habit to break too.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Can't deny it! Lol. Usually, book covers are so persuasive :)

    ReplyDelete
  68. I ALWAYS judge a book by it's cover. I've gotten so used to reading Indie books and knowing that a good cover is a good indication that an author is serious about their book!

    ReplyDelete
  69. I totally do. I'm not even denying it. =D

    Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  70. If I don't know the author, the book cover is definitely the first thing I look at. Only if the cover or title catches my interest will I read the blurb :)

    ReplyDelete
  71. Yes I do, but I will definitely read the synopsis before actually deciding if I want to read it or not.

    ReplyDelete
  72. While I don't exactly JUDGE a book by its cover, if I'm in a rush, I'm much more likely to first pick a book to read the back blurb based on the nicest cover, then go from there. I never BUY a book based on its cover. I must read something about it first. I'm on a very limited budget and I'm not going to waste my few funds on a pretty wrapping. I want to make sure the author can actually write.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Yep. Sometimes I can't help but read a book based on just the cover alone.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I love a great piece of art and book covers are exactly that for me, so I definitely buy books because of their pretty covers sometimes...

    ReplyDelete
  75. I have to admit that I do sometimes. I know I shouldn't but I love having a beautiful cover on my bookshelf.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Sometimes but not on purpose! Some of the best books I've read have a very simple cover! Thanks for the chance to win!

    ReplyDelete
  77. No I don't. The blurb is what I choose a book by.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Yes i do. A lot of times i buy books without know anything.........

    ReplyDelete
  79. Pretty covers make me read summaries. But if I happen to find a potentially good book, I can look past a bad cover as well :)

    ReplyDelete
  80. I do sometimes. I have passed on books because the covers didn't interest me and didn't even inspire me to pick it up to read the synopsis. I have also been disappointed by a book with a great cover.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Yes, I do judge a book by its cover and I buy it if I like how it looks like. I regret nothing :D. Thank you for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  82. I do unfortunately, which is why "On The Fence" should put me off, I don't care for couples on covers, but it doesn't. ;) I've heard such good things about it and I really want to read it.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I will admit that an eye-catching cover will prompt me to check out the blurb and vice versa.
    Thanks :)

    ReplyDelete
  84. Sometimes. Nice covers deserve some attention. :)

    ReplyDelete
  85. I definitely judge a book by its cover! I can't help it! But I also try to read blurbs on "decent" ones as much as possible. =)

    ReplyDelete
  86. Of course I judge a book by its cover! LOL But I read synopsis too :))

    ReplyDelete
  87. I do judge a book by its cover, unless if it is by an author I know has great books

    ReplyDelete
  88. Yes, unfortunately and sometimes because of that I miss out such amazing series.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I do judge a book by the cover but I also like to read what the book is about and thanks for the giveaway!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  90. Unfortunately I do judge books by there covers, unless I have a strong recommendation by a friend of mine!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Covers definitely get my attention but the storyline has to be good too. Thanks for the giveaway!

  92. I sadly do, it is a horrible habit but some covers are plain and it makes you not want to pick them up! Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Yeap, I do... Guilty as charged. A good cover always catches my attention, but I won't buy the book until I do some research about it ;)

  94. Alisha Sienkiel in rafflecopter

Yeah I do. A beautiful cover will make me stop and see what the book is about.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I totally do. If I see a pretty cover it piques my interest and I'll have to find out what it's about

    ReplyDelete
  96. Yes of course! The cover is the first thing I see and sometimes this is the main thing that makes me pick up a book. Thanks for the giveaway!
