[Book Review] The Ophelia Prophecy by Sharon Lynn Fisher

The Ophelia ProphecyThe Ophelia Prophecy
by
New sci-fi romance from the RITA Award nominated author of GHOST PLANET!
* * *
Our world is no longer our own. We engineered a race of superior fighters -- the Manti, mutant humans with insect-like abilities. Twenty-five years ago they all but destroyed us. In Sanctuary, some of us survive. Eking out our existence. Clinging to the past.

Some of us intend to do more than survive.
* * *
Asha and Pax -- strangers and enemies -- find themselves stranded together on the border of the last human city, neither with a memory of how they got there.

Asha is an archivist working to preserve humanity’s most valuable resource -- information -- viewed as the only means of resurrecting their society.

Pax is Manti, his Scarab ship a menacing presence in the skies over Sanctuary, keeping the last dregs of humanity in check.

Neither of them is really what they seem, and what humanity believes about the Manti is a lie.

With their hearts and fates on a collision course, they must unlock each other's secrets and forge a bond of trust before a rekindled conflict pushes their two races into repeating the mistakes of the past.

"Whether her face, her body, her mind, or some combination, it was her. He'd told her that they shared a special bond, a bond he hadn't believed in until two days ago. Wasn't it a kind of sign? A sign that there was room for both of their speciaes in this aftertime?"
A thrilling and adventurous read, The Ophelia Prophecy is definitely on top of the list of Sci-Fi Romances. The romance itself wasn't your typical fall-in-love-with-first-glance type of love and the author definitely made a special effort to include the Scientific aspect of the story so it wouldn't look cheap. Yes, there was tension between main characters but I really liked how it grew with situations and time and allowed the reader to really follow their relationship with whatever happened to them.

Asha was the type of girl that didn't put up with anyone's sh*t and definitely stood up for herself. I liked that she still had a sense of humor and was brave, even after not remembering anything about herself. Pax was your typical hot man with that bad-boy attitude and confidence that just oozed from him. & let's not forget that he is half human, half animal so the hotness element may vary by your imagination ;)

Great writing and plot, this was definitely a great read and recommended for any Sci-Fi romance readers who like a little spice with their world building.

[Audiobook Review] Fever by Maya Banks

Fever (Breathless, #2)Fever
Maya Banks
Jace, Ash, and Gabe: three of the wealthiest, most powerful men in the country. They’re accustomed to getting anything they want. Anything at all. For Jace, it’s a woman whose allure takes him completely by surprise...

Jace Crestwell, Ash McIntyre, and Gabe Hamilton have been best friends and successful business partners for years. They’re powerful, they’re imposing, they’re irresistibly sexy, and Jace and Ash share everything—including their women.

When they meet Bethany, Jace begins to feel things he’s never experienced before: jealousy, and a powerful obsession that threatens him, overwhelms him—and excites him beyond control.

Jace isn’t sharing Bethany—with anyone. He’s determined to be the only man in her life, and it’s jeopardizing a lifelong friendship with Ash. Bethany will be his and his alone. Even if it means turning his back on his best friend.

“He did and said all the right things. Things that went straight to her heart, and worse, they inspired the one thing that she'd given up along time ago. Hope.”

Jace Crestwell doesn’t want a relationship and now that his sister Mia is getting married, he doesn’t know how to react to it. But he meets Bethany and invites her for an explosive threesome with his best friend Ash, he knows that she is different. After disappearing on him the next day, he searches for her and finding out that she is homeless, breaks his heart. He needs to find her, to take care of her, to make sure that she survives the streets.

“She was too well acquainted with the way things work in real life. Real life sucked. But it was real. It was unapologetic. It made no excuses. It just was.”

Bethany knows that she doesn’t deserve Jace but being with him makes her heart stop and she cannot help but fall for him. But when her old life keeps creeping in, she cannot handle Jace’s mistrust. Trying to stand up for herself and be the person that she was meant to be is hard but it is better than being frozen on the streets, not knowing when her next meal will be.

…………………………………………………………………

I do have to say that this book was way better than the first one. There were no conflict, story, and the emotions were way deeper than just pointless sex scenes. I really felt the connection here but couldn’t get over Bethany’s insecurities. She always cried, ran away, and really was just a broken person. I guess it’s understandable since she was homeless but still.. it bothered me.

Jace was amazing as always. Perfect alpha male who is completely obsessed with a woman. Who wouldn’t want that lol Well.. it’s on to the last book in this trilogy – wish me luck! *wink*

Don't miss the first review of the trilogy - rush by maya banks!

[Book Review] Good Intentions by S. L. Scott

Good Intentions
S. L. Scott
Two words sum up my summer in paradise: Evan Ashford.
I have a life back home I must return to, though my heart battles this reality. What started as a carefree summer fling has become so much more. Evan has become so much more. He’s become everything. Cupping his face, I stare into his deep blue eyes, wanting to lose myself once more… needing to know he feels this too.
Although our connection won’t stop the summer’s end from rushing toward us or silence the demons Evan battles, I have faith our love can overcome the obstacles that will undoubtedly arise from us choosing to be together. I still worry… Will our good intentions be good enough? But I’m all in, willing to take the risk, knowing he can destroy my heart if I’m wrong.

“I want you. I always fucking want you and it scares the shit out of me. I don’t want to disappoint you like I have everyone else.”
Good Intentions continues with Evan and Mallory’s story where they start spending more time together. With summer fling, it seems unbelievable how close they have gotten and the feelings that they have for each other seem too true to be real. With both of them having many insecurities, they try to work a relationship in which both of them can trust each other. Life is not always easy in paradise and there will be many times when their love and commitment will be questioned and pushed to it’s limits.

The chemistry in this book was incredible and you can definitely feel the tension between Mallory and Evan. The author really knows how to write some hot and steamy scenes while still making it very personal and emotional. There were a lot of times when I would question if they would stay together and really wished that Mallory might have met someone else. But Evan was a really hot character that made me completely fall in love with his charm and care-free attitude.

Enjoyable, fast read for all the NA/Romance/Comtemporary fans that love a hot summer book for their lonely nights. A definite must-read!
