[Book Review] The Learner by Alan Nayes

The Learner (Learner Series, #1)
The Learner
Alan Nayes
NayéLi has come from the dark side of the universe to learn as much as she can about the third planet from the sun, and to communicate her findings back to her home world. NayéLi is a Learner - and on Earth she assumes the form of a young human female of the indigenous host species.

NayéLi is bound by her rulers' laws of planetary exploration, which state that there can be no involvement with a member of the host species. But NayéLi is more human now than she realizes. And she is about to fall in love.

Overall Score: 5 Stars!!!

NayéLi is a learner. She was sent to Earth to study about I'WE, the humans, the planet and everything around them. She was given a second chance to prove herself to the main power that she was worth being somebody back at Sumaura, her home planet. Spending hundreds of years on planet Earth has taught her many things but everything changes when she meets a special I'WE, Jared Russell. Nobody can remember her except him because of her memory shield and she doesn't understand why. All she knows is that she has never experienced any of the feelings that she has and she doesn't care anymore if she breaks all the rules just to be with him.

O.M.G.! This has to be the best science fiction that I have ever read. Actually, I don't think I've ever found a science fiction book that I enjoyed this much. Everything about this book was perfect. The scenes, the story, the characters and even romance! It had everything. I absolutely loved
NayéLi and it was so interesting to see her be a learner and struggle with her emotions for Jared. And she totally kicked some ass! And Jared! He was such a sweet guy and it was so cute when he was trying to figure her out and find out who she was and why he can't stop thinking about her. Sooooo dreamy! I devoured with book within hours and cannot wait for the second book in the Learner Series to come out.

[Book Review + Giveaway] Lost & Found by Nicole Williams

Lost and Found
Lost & Found
Nicole Williams
There’s complicated. And there’s Rowen Sterling.

After numbing pain for the past five years with boys, alcohol, and all-around apathy, she finds herself on a Greyhound bus to nowhere Montana the summer after she graduates high school. Her mom agreed to front the bill to Rowen’s dream art school only if Rowen proves she can work hard and stay out of trouble at Willow Springs Ranch. Cooking breakfast at the crack of dawn for a couple dozen ranch hands and mucking out horse stalls are the last things in the world Rowen wants to spend her summer doing.

Until Jesse Walker saunters into her life wearing a pair of painted-on jeans, a cowboy hat, and a grin that makes something in her chest she’d thought was frozen go boom-boom. Jesse’s like no one else, and certainly nothing like her. He’s the bright and shiny to her dark and jaded.

Rowen knows there’s no happily-ever-after for the golden boy and the rebel girl—happily-right-now is a stretch—so she tries to forget and ignore the boy who makes her feel things she’s not sure she’s ready to feel. But the more she pushes him away, the closer he seems to get. The more she convinces herself she doesn’t care, the harder she falls.

When her dark secrets refuse to stay locked behind the walls she’s kept up for years, Rowen realizes it’s not just everyone else she needs to be honest with. It’s herself.
Overall Score: 4.5 Stars

Rowen Sterling never fit in anywhere. She has always been considered as an outcast and did she could to try and forget it. She accepted that life was disappointing and was just trying to get by. That is when her mother send her to a Ranch in the middle of nowhere to "prove herself" that she was worth going to college. Willow Springs has changed her in a way that she never thought it would. She just had to fall for Jesse Walker, all-American cowboy that made every girl's heart melt. If only she could get over the thought that she does not reserve him because of her past. What she doesn't know is that even those beautiful baby blue eyes have a secret.

This book was amazing!! I loved every single page and the story was so touching. Rowen is not your usual girl character but I still think that she could be relatable to many readers. The author did an amazing job capturing those little moments like their first kiss or the feelings that she had. Nicole Williams is definitely my new favorite author!

A teenage girl is transformed into a reluctant superhero and must balance her old life with the dark secret of who she has become.

Prima ballerina Anthem Fleet is closely guarded by her parents in their penthouse apartment. But when she meets the handsome Gavin at a party on the wrong side of town, she is immediately drawn into his dangerous world. Then, in a tragic accident, Anthem falls to her death. She awakes in an underground lab, with a bionic heart ticking in her chest. As she navigates her new life, she uncovers the sinister truth behind those she trusted the most, and the chilling secret of her family lineage…and her duty to uphold it.

The Dark Knight meets Cinder in this gripping and cinematic story of heartbreak and revenge. From Alloy Entertainment, this inventive new superhero story is sure to captivate any reader.

Bad boys!!! I always loved this kind of stories where a pretty and good girl falls for the bad boy. And a bionic heart? OMG sounds to me that she's going to be super badass! And the cover? Talk about mysterious and gorgeous at the same time! Can't can't can't wait.

[Book Review] Chasing Beautiful by Pamela Ann

Chasing Beautiful (Chasing, #1)Chasing Beautiful
Pamela Ann
What would you do if you had two hot men fight over you?

An orphan at the age of seven, there was one thing that Sienna Richards didn't do easily--give her heart. She made that mistake once by trusting and giving her heart to her childhood best friend and ex-boyfriend, Kyle Matthews. When Sienna left for London to study, she was taken aback when Kyle told her that he's been seeing someone else.

Hurt and betrayed, Sienna decided to fly back to LA to confront him. The whole idea of "closure" was definitely a bad idea. She immediately left, deflated and aggrieved. Back in London, Sienna was surprised when her very good friend, the magnetic Blake Knightly, seemed to be determined to have her. Blake was relentless but will not settle until he gets ALL of Sienna.

Women clamored to be the handsome aristocratic Blake. Who could possibly resist a compelling man that drew such power and commanded attention by simply just breathing?

When Sienna was about to give in, fate stepped in and muddled her mind and heart once again. Kyle moves to London to be close to her. If Sienna thought her life was in shambles before, she should think again.
Overall Score: 2 Stars

Chasing Beautiful is the first book in Chasing Series which starts off a story about Sienna, a beautiful Californian 20 year old girl who moved to London for college. While being still heartbroken from her past relationship with her childhood best friend Kyle, she engages in a new relationship with her recent friend Brake who she cannot stop thinking about. After Kyle moves to London for work while trying to get her back, she is torn between him and Brake.

I don’t want you for your body… when you’re mine, I want your all. Your body, your soul, your mind. I will consume you – I’ll be your world and in return, I’ll worship the ground you walk on…

This story was an okay read that I'm not really crazy about. There were many sex scenes that I really liked and didn’t seem too tacky and the passion and heat of the moment made the pages turn. The only problem that I have with some of the scenes is that the writing was very confusing. One moment you have Sienna saying some pretty big words and then the next she’ll blurt out something completely ghetto and out of the content. For example, she would say: “Your skills are extraordinary – incomparable” and few paragraphs later: “Yes, it will be hella crazy.” I also did not really find her character to be likeable. I get the whole family tragedy situation and not being able to trust people but for me it was really annoying to read her thoughts. She repeated herself ALOT (well... the author repeated herself ALOT) and it was a constant switch between it's-all-about-me and hot-guys-all-over-me-but-I'm-still-worthless-piece-of-shit act. And she handles situations terrible! When she finds out that Blake was in arranged engagement, she starts crying, has a panic attack in front of everyone and what does she do next? She packs her shit and gets on the plane with her ex-boyfriend! The same ex-boyfriend that broke her heart but she can't stop drooling over him.-facepalm-

So overall, between hot sex scenes and terrible characters, it was an okay read. I wouldn't even give it one star if the author didn't put some steamy action in there. Blah. Just writing this review made my personal rating stop from 3 to 2 stars. -.-

[Book Release] Castles on the Sand by E.M. Tippetts

Title: Castles on the Sand (Shattered Castles, #1)
Author: E.M. Tippetts
Release date: August 20, 2012
Genre:  Contemporary Romance/coming of age
Age Group: Young Adult
Event organized by: AToMR Tours

Short Excerpt

Mom gets to her feet. “How often do you talk to John?”
“I don't know. He emails me. Sometimes I email back.”
For a moment she just stares at me, her eyes narrowing, then she lunges across the room and slaps me across the face. Pain explodes across my still tender nose and sinuses and I find myself clinging to the fridge door handle to keep from falling down. I must have stumbled into it after Mom's blow. “Mom...”
She curses, then ducks out the back door.
Papers flutter in her wake and I snatch one out of the air. It's a cancelled rent check. The others on the floor prove to be other canceled checks, but I take a closer look at one and see that it's actually a bounced check. Mom's overspent her bank balance again. I pick them all up – a headache beginning to throb behind my eyes – and stack them neatly on the table again. I hate it when mom hits me. She never does it hard enough to leave a mark, but it stings to have the one person I live with hate me so much that she resorts to violence.
It makes me feel like a stranger in my home, an intruder, someone who isn't welcome. When I walk back to my room, I can't even sit down on my bed, I perch on the edge and catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror. The two black eyes have faded into just dark circles, but I wonder if they'll purple up again.
Out in the back yard, I sense more than hear her potters wheel start up. I hope that calms her down.
And I really wish I could call Kailie. I flip through my pitifully short list of phone contacts and stop on John's name. A glance at the clock tells me it's eleven p.m., which means it's midnight in Utah. My thumb hesitates, then punches the send key.
One ring and I feel like I'm being rude. Two and I feel like I'm taking a bad night and making it a million times worse. Three and I get ready to hang up.
“Hello?” says a sleepy voice.
“Hi.”
“Mmm, hi. Who's this?”
“It's Madison.”
“Madison?” He says my name as if I'm a movie star who just called him at home. “Really? How are you? It is so good to hear your voice.”
