Seventeen is a life changing age for Emma Wise.
As her family's sole survivor in a car crash, she is left with a broken arm and a few scrapes and bruises. But these are only outward marks; inside, her heart is broken and the pieces scattered.
Whisked away to Alaska, to an aunt she’s never met, Emma starts over. Secrets unveil themselves and now…she doesn't even know who or what she is.
A centuries old prophecy places Emma in the heart of danger. Creatures of horrifying and evil proportions are after her, and it will take Emma, her aunt, and six, gorgeously captivating Guardians to keep her safe. But, if she can survive until her eighteenth birthday... things will change.

"Welcome to your new life, Emma. Instead of good night, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite... it was... make sure your doors and windows are bolted shut, and check your closet and under your bed before you go to sleep, or the Darkling and Fallen Angels will come out and get you!"
After getting into an accident, Emma Wise was lucky to come out of it with few broken bones. But her parents were dead and some aunt from Alaska wanted to stay with her for a year. Even though she never met her and didn't even know she existed. Sending "escorts" for Emma to take her to Alaska seemed a little out of ordinary but soon she will learn that they are, in fact, her Guardian Angels and discover the truth about who she really is will change her forever.

As my 4 star rating says - I really liked the book. I was a little surprised because usually all Angel/Demon stories are all the same but this was definitely different. Emma's secret was kept pretty safe all through the book and when there was a chance for me to finally find out who she was - BOOOOOM! - brain teaser. & as soon as I finally learned who she was, they were in the middle of some awesome sword fighting and totally kicking ass!
I really liked most of the characters, except maybe Emma sometimes. She is only 17 so I understand when she's acting a little immature. It didn't ruin the story for me. But I did love Alaine and all the gorgeous boys. I can't believe they were actually made killing Darklings a game! I can actually imagine those model-looking boys making a bet about it. Totally made me laugh.
So if you are into paranormal, romance, YA, forbidden love stories - this is for you. The writing keeps you on your toes and makes you want to finally figure out what's going on.
