[Book Review + Giveaway] Wild Iris Ridge by RaeAnne Thayne

Wild Iris Ridge (Hope's Crossing, #7)Wild Iris Ridge
by
Lucy Drake and Brendan Caine have only one thing in common…

And it's likely to tear them apart. Because it was Brendan's late wife, Jessie—and Lucy's best friend—who'd brought them together in the first place. And since Jesse's passing, Brendan's been distracted by his two little ones…and the memory of an explosive kiss with Lucy years before his marriage. Still, he'll steer clear of her. She's always been trouble with a capital T.

Lucy couldn't wait to shed her small-town roots for the big city. But now that she's back in Hope's Crossing to take care of the Queen Anne home her late aunt has left her, she figures seeing Brendan Caine again is no big deal. After all, she'd managed to resist the handsome fire chief once before, but clearly the embers of their attraction are still smoldering…

I love stories of the forbidden love. The kind where you know you have someone amazing but can't stop thinking about what could have been... Wild Iris Ridge was that story. With Brendan's wife passing, he has been thinking about Lucy more and more. But just thinking about her being his wife's best friend makes it more complicated than it should be.

From the beginning, I feel under the charm of this story. Light and charming read, this was a perfect contemporary/chick lit novel that I wouldn't mind reading on the beach. The friendship that Lucky and Brendan had was very refreshing and I loved that they honored Jessie and felt that it was wrong to get together. The town that the author created was a place where I wouldn't mind living. It was the place that made me lose myself.

[Book Review] Good Intentions by S. L. Scott

Good Intentions
S. L. Scott
Two words sum up my summer in paradise: Evan Ashford.
I have a life back home I must return to, though my heart battles this reality. What started as a carefree summer fling has become so much more. Evan has become so much more. He’s become everything. Cupping his face, I stare into his deep blue eyes, wanting to lose myself once more… needing to know he feels this too.
Although our connection won’t stop the summer’s end from rushing toward us or silence the demons Evan battles, I have faith our love can overcome the obstacles that will undoubtedly arise from us choosing to be together. I still worry… Will our good intentions be good enough? But I’m all in, willing to take the risk, knowing he can destroy my heart if I’m wrong.

“I want you. I always fucking want you and it scares the shit out of me. I don’t want to disappoint you like I have everyone else.”
Good Intentions continues with Evan and Mallory’s story where they start spending more time together. With summer fling, it seems unbelievable how close they have gotten and the feelings that they have for each other seem too true to be real. With both of them having many insecurities, they try to work a relationship in which both of them can trust each other. Life is not always easy in paradise and there will be many times when their love and commitment will be questioned and pushed to it’s limits.

The chemistry in this book was incredible and you can definitely feel the tension between Mallory and Evan. The author really knows how to write some hot and steamy scenes while still making it very personal and emotional. There were a lot of times when I would question if they would stay together and really wished that Mallory might have met someone else. But Evan was a really hot character that made me completely fall in love with his charm and care-free attitude.

Enjoyable, fast read for all the NA/Romance/Comtemporary fans that love a hot summer book for their lonely nights. A definite must-read!
