[Book Review] Good Intentions by S. L. Scott

Good Intentions
S. L. Scott
Two words sum up my summer in paradise: Evan Ashford.
I have a life back home I must return to, though my heart battles this reality. What started as a carefree summer fling has become so much more. Evan has become so much more. He’s become everything. Cupping his face, I stare into his deep blue eyes, wanting to lose myself once more… needing to know he feels this too.
Although our connection won’t stop the summer’s end from rushing toward us or silence the demons Evan battles, I have faith our love can overcome the obstacles that will undoubtedly arise from us choosing to be together. I still worry… Will our good intentions be good enough? But I’m all in, willing to take the risk, knowing he can destroy my heart if I’m wrong.

*ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review*
“I want you. I always fucking want you and it scares the shit out of me. I don’t want to disappoint you like I have everyone else.”
Good Intentions continues with Evan and Mallory’s story where they start spending more time together. With summer fling, it seems unbelievable how close they have gotten and the feelings that they have for each other seem too true to be real. With both of them having many insecurities, they try to work a relationship in which both of them can trust each other. Life is not always easy in paradise and there will be many times when their love and commitment will be questioned and pushed to it’s limits.

The chemistry in this book was incredible and you can definitely feel the tension between Mallory and Evan. The author really knows how to write some hot and steamy scenes while still making it very personal and emotional. There were a lot of times when I would question if they would stay together and really wished that Mallory might have met someone else. But Evan was a really hot character that made me completely fall in love with his charm and care-free attitude.

Enjoyable, fast read for all the NA/Romance/Comtemporary fans that love a hot summer book for their lonely nights. A definite must-read!

[Audiobook Review] Zoe & Zak and the Ghost Leopard by Lars Guignard

Zoe & Zak and the Ghost Leopard (Zoe & Zak Adventures, #1)Zoe & Zak and the Ghost Leopard
Lars Guignard
Imagine you're totally lost in a strange city with no idea where you are and no way home.
Now imagine that elephants and snake charmers start telling you that you've been chosen to save the world.
Would you even believe them?
What would you do?

Zoe Guire isn't sure. Having that elephant talk to her was really weird, and, as a rule, Zoe doesn't do weird. Except the thing is, when Zoe goes along on her mom's business trip to India, things get very weird, very quickly. Soon after she arrives, Zoe finds herself tagging alongside a kid named Zak, lost in a crazy city, with no money and no way home.

And those are the least of Zoe's troubles. Because if she's to believe the scary-looking snake charmer guy sitting in the corner, she and Zak have been chosen -- chosen to protect some kind of mythical animal called the Ghost Leopard from who knows what.

Now, the further they get into the mountains, the more crazily impossible things get. Carpets fly and statues talk and if either Zoe or Zak want to make it back to their parents, or the sixth grade, or anything even close to normal, they're going to have to make some new friends, learn some new tricks, and listen, really listen to that talking elephant. Because if they don't, the world will never be the same again.

Join Zoe and Zak as they journey high into the Himalayas to a place few have been and even fewer have returned to tell about it.

Live life beyond the edge.

Zoe & Zak and the Ghost Leopard is an adventure story about Zoe and Zak who were chosen to protect the people of India from the Monkey God. When Zoe’s mother takes her to India for her business trip, Zoe is determined to take the best picture so she can win her school’s contest.

But when she sees Zak, a boy that she went to school with, she is annoyed and really doesn’t want him there. However, he loves adventure so when he finds "Rhino Butt’s" map, Zak wants to know where it takes him. They decide to follow the map and see many things on their way to the mountains. They might even discover that magic, is in fact, might be real and statues do cry diamonds.

I absolutely loved Zoe & Zak and the Ghost Leopard and think that it’s the perfect book for middle graders. There is that time when children don’t want to hear anymore about fairytales and want some action to get them excited for books. I really think that this book was well written and is able to catch anyone’s attention. The characters were very well presented and it was amazing to see the world through 11-year old’s eyes.

Since I was listening to the Audiobook version, I do think that it takes time to get used to the narrator, that was for me at least. At times it felt like she was overdoing it but if you consider the fact that this is meant to be a younger public, it was perfect.

About the Author
Killian McRaeKillian McRae would tell you that she is a rather boring lass, an authoress whose characters’ lives are so much more exciting than her own. She would be right. Sadly, this sarcastic lexophile leads a rather mundane existence in the San Francisco Bay Area. She once dreamed of being the female Indiana Jones, and to that end she earned a degree in Middle Eastern History from the University of Michigan. However, when she learned that real archaeologist spend more time lovingly removing dust with toothbrushes from shards of pottery than outrunning intriguing villains with exotic accents, she decided to become a writer instead. She writes across many genres, including science fiction, fantasy, romance, and historical fiction.

[Book Review] Recalled by Cambria Hebert

Recalled (Death Escorts, #1)Recalled
Cambria Hebert
Sometimes the right choice can be the deadliest.

When Ellie Watt made the ultimate sacrifice for Camden McQueen, she never thought it would be easy. But walking away with her ex-lover, Javier Bernal, in order to ensure Camden’s safety has brought a whole new set of dangers. With Javier’s plans for Ellie growing more secretive by the moment, Ellie must find a way to stay ahead of the game before her past swallows her whole.

Meanwhile, Camden’s new life is short-lived. Fueled by revenge and pursued by authorities, he teams up with an unlikely partner in order to save Ellie. But as Camden toes the line between love and retribution, he realizes that in order to get back the woman he loves, he may have to lose himself in the process. He might just turn into the very man he’s hunting.

He knew that he was going to hell since he was 10. Murdering a person definitely wouldn’t look good on his life application. But when an unexpected turns of events happens and he dies, he is faced with a decision of life and death with no other but the Grim Reaper.

Agreeing on working for G. R., Dex will have everything. Money, power, and eternity to live. All he needs to do is take someone’s life. But when he meets his Target, he doesn’t know if he can do it. Piper is beautiful, smart, and she is the first person who actually cares about him. Now he would have to decide if saving her would be worth being Recalled.

"I’d done a lot of crappy things in my life, but lying here in this bed felt like the worst. I didn’t deserve her trust, yet I had it. I wasn’t fit to breathe the same air as her.”

Recalled has been a very interesting and fast-paced read. I thought that all the “incidents” were too close apart and there were just too many of them. But I loved Dex and the way his thoughts worked. With Piper it was a little different. Her character made me wince sometimes and I just wished that I wouldn’t even listen to her thoughts. But with me being a girl as well, I can understand where she is coming from.

I am definitely looking forward to read the second book in this series “Charmed” which was recently published and has gained a lot of buzz around it.
