[Waiting On Wednesday] The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen

The Moon and More
Expected Publication: June 4th, 2013
Luke is the perfect boyfriend: handsome, kind, fun. He and Emaline have been together all through high school in Colby, the beach town where they both grew up. But now, in the summer before college, Emaline wonders if perfect is good enough.

Enter Theo, a super-ambitious outsider, a New Yorker assisting on a documentary film about a reclusive local artist. Theo's sophisticated, exciting, and, best of all, he thinks Emaline is much too smart for Colby.

Emaline's mostly-absentee father, too, thinks Emaline should have a bigger life, and he's convinced that an Ivy League education is the only route to realizing her potential. Emaline is attracted to the bright future that Theo and her father promise. But she also clings to the deep roots of her loving mother, stepfather, and sisters. Can she ignore the pull of the happily familiar world of Colby?

Emaline wants the moon and more, but how can she balance where she comes from with where she's going?

Sarah Dessen's devoted fans will welcome this story of romance, yearning, and, finally, empowerment. It could only happen in the summer.

This book just sounds so genuine and sweet, I cannot wait to read this! Just when you look at the cover, you can tell that this is going to be a cute read with a lot of romance and shy emotions. I want to read more romantic and light book this summer so this would be perfect for a day at the beach or by the pool! What's your WoW this week?

[Book Review] Sleeping Roses by RaShelle Workman

Sleeping Roses (Dead Roses, #1)Sleeping Roses
RaShelle Workman
Sophie married into a lie.

Sick of her dangerous marriage, Sophie leaves her husband, determined to start a new life.

But her husband isn't going to let her go that easily. If he can't have her, no one can.

It's hunter versus hunted.

***Her marriage may be dangerous, but leaving could be deadly.***
Sophie married a monster and there was no way of getting out of the relationship. Until one day she said it was enough and left him. However, having a man who sees women as slaves does not do her any good and she has to live in constant fear for her life. Specially after she finds out that she is pregnant with his baby and the child that she is bearing may upset him even more. While hiding from her soon-to-be-ex-husband, she finds an amazing job and starts having a relationship with her coworker that she is falling for which scares her. But David finally catches her and the past that she has been trying to forget for so long might catch up to her as well. That is until she wakes up...

Ummm I am not even sure about this book. Before I write a review, I always check out other people's reviews and just see what they thought about it. This is the time where their review may have opened my eyes to the things that I haven't noticed before. Weak and emotionally-distressed main character, unbelievable spot and  uncontrollable pace of the book. Yes, I thought that Sophie was relying on her Lesbian BBF too much and sometimes she really annoyed me. But it was a quick read and some moments made me pause and think: "Holy sh*t!". I think when people get very emotional and then someone says "Just kidding", they get a little upset and take everything out on the whole book instead of just one part. But hey, I felt the same moment and this book can definitely change some minds. 3 stars.

[Release Event] Beauty From Surrender by Georgia Cates

Beauty from Surrender (Beauty, #2)Beauty From Surrender
Georgia Cates
How do you move on when he’s every song you sing?

After Laurelyn Prescott walks away from the love of her life, she returns to Nashville to pursue the only dream she has left. Determined to find a distraction from the pain of losing Jack Henry, she immerses herself in her music. But with her old life comes old acquaintances and new expectations. From there it’s a rocket ride straight to the top where Laurelyn finds the success she’s always dreamed of. Will it be enough to bring her the happiness she so deserves, or will the absence of Jack Henry leave her wanting more?

Jack Henry McLachlan never expected to fall in love with Laurelyn Prescott—but he did. After he foolishly let her slip through his fingers, he spends three months searching for her, but their reunion doesn’t come easy. The woman he finds isn’t the same one who drifted away without a goodbye. No longer an insecure girl on an Australian adventure, this Laurelyn is a successful musician with a promising career. Her dreams are becoming a reality, and Jack is terrified his American girl won’t have a place for him in her new life. With only a month to convince her otherwise, will it be enough time to make her visualize a life beyond the glitz and glamour, a life that includes him?

Excerpt
Shit! Am I too late? Has she let this Charlie guy into her bed so she could forget me?
I am a selfish bastard, and undeniably a possessive one, when it comes to Laurelyn. I don't want her happier with another man and I'm petrified that she is. I fear he's giving her the things I didn't. And telling her the words I should have but refused to say because I was too stubborn to see the truth.
I squeeze my eyes shut as I brace myself for her answer to the question I'm bloody terrified to ask. “Did you let him fuck you?”
Laurelyn won't lie to me, but that's only one of the reasons I'm scared to death. I stare into the blackness behind my lids. I won't be able to bear it if she tells me she let him get inside her. I don't know how to handle that.
I feel her hands on my face. “Look at me.” I don't know if I can until I know she hasn't been with another man. “Please, look at me.”
I've never been more frightened in my life, but I open my eyes because it's what she's asking me to do. Her face is so serious. I think she's contemplating how to say the words, how to break my heart gently and kill me slowly.

“Don’t try to be my hero. Don’t care about me. Don’t let go.”

Twenty-two-year-old Beatrice Stevens lives to dance. Two years ago she walked in on the picture of horror: after stabbing her mom 34 times, her father killed himself. She found his corpse still clutching at her mom’s, determined not to let go of her even in death. Now Beatrice freaks out if she’s hugged, loomed over or receives attention from daddy-type guys. Unless she’s dancing—the one thing that feeds her soul and saves her time after time.

Anthony Gowl wants Beatrice from the moment she bumps her adorable nose into his chest. That desire turns into a burning need after he sees her dance. But he’s the overprotective type—he can’t help it, it’s part of him ever since his sister ODed seven years ago. His savior complex makes him the perfect opposite of what Beatrice needs.

But she can’t seem to shake him. He’s both scary and exciting, even when he kneels at her feet. And the closer he gets, the more that toxic waste in her soul threatens to explode.

[Book Review] I'm Not Her by Janet Gurtler

I'm Not HerI'm Not Her
Janet Gurtler
“For the first time in my life, I didn’t feel envy…”

Tess is the exact opposite of her beautiful, athletic sister. And that’s okay. Kristina is the sporty one, Tess is the smart one, and they each have their place. Until Kristina is diagnosed with cancer. Suddenly Tess is the center of the popular crowd, everyone eager for updates. There are senior boys flirting with her. Yet the smiles of her picture-perfect family are cracking and her sister could be dying. Now Tess has to fill a new role: the strong one. Because if she doesn’t hold it together, who will?

Tess likes her life just the way everything is. She is not popular, doesn't wear flashy clothes, has never kissed a boy and the only person who seems to be close to her is her best friend Melissa that she can make fun of other people with. But it's okay because she got the brains and a wicked talent for art.
"People don't run up to me with their cameras and ask to take my picture with them. They run past me without seeing me and grab my sister and pose with her. Or they did."
Her sister is completely different from her. She's beautiful, social and has a bright future in sports. That is until she comes home from a doctor's appointment and announces that she has cancer that's eating her bones away. While trying to cope with the situation, the family is falling apart and Tess is the only one that seems to be the strong one in this and she hates it. She never asked to be popular or have everyone talk to her but she has to be there for her sister especially when she might lose her leg and never be the same anymore. A battle between friends, family, and cancer is raw with emotions and incredible writing.
"Well look at me!" She points at her missing limb. I glance around her room, searching for hints, for the right thing to say. "You're still you. And I don't want you to die. I love you Kristina"
I have cried so many times during this book. I never thought that this kind of story would touch me but it was breaking my heart the way Tess' family was falling apart. I felt so bad for Kristina, especially because she was trying to be strong. When she found out that she was going to lose her leg, she was devastated but her best friend Jeremy was there for her. But OMG!!!!! Taking an insane twist in the story, she loses everything that was giving her hope. This is specially the part of the book that made me cry. This definitely goes out to my All-Favorites and another author to follow. 5 Stars!!!

-catching breath-

Whoaaaaaa! I just want to say that all that I have been reading lately is Romance. That sweet and cute love where a boy meets girl, they can't resist each other and everything is butterflies and pink hearts. And I don't mind it. Not at all. But Muckross Folly was a completely surprise and I did not expect that. It was exactly the kind of "different" that I needed and I loved every moment of it. Two badass women who want to prove themselves made me seriously want to live at least a day in their life. Except maybe for when the tragedy happen.. But overall this is a MUST read! Amazing - 4 stars.
