[Book Review] Recalled by Cambria Hebert

Recalled (Death Escorts, #1)Recalled
Cambria Hebert
Sometimes the right choice can be the deadliest.

When Ellie Watt made the ultimate sacrifice for Camden McQueen, she never thought it would be easy. But walking away with her ex-lover, Javier Bernal, in order to ensure Camden’s safety has brought a whole new set of dangers. With Javier’s plans for Ellie growing more secretive by the moment, Ellie must find a way to stay ahead of the game before her past swallows her whole.

Meanwhile, Camden’s new life is short-lived. Fueled by revenge and pursued by authorities, he teams up with an unlikely partner in order to save Ellie. But as Camden toes the line between love and retribution, he realizes that in order to get back the woman he loves, he may have to lose himself in the process. He might just turn into the very man he’s hunting.

He knew that he was going to hell since he was 10. Murdering a person definitely wouldn’t look good on his life application. But when an unexpected turns of events happens and he dies, he is faced with a decision of life and death with no other but the Grim Reaper.

Agreeing on working for G. R., Dex will have everything. Money, power, and eternity to live. All he needs to do is take someone’s life. But when he meets his Target, he doesn’t know if he can do it. Piper is beautiful, smart, and she is the first person who actually cares about him. Now he would have to decide if saving her would be worth being Recalled.

"I’d done a lot of crappy things in my life, but lying here in this bed felt like the worst. I didn’t deserve her trust, yet I had it. I wasn’t fit to breathe the same air as her.”

Recalled has been a very interesting and fast-paced read. I thought that all the “incidents” were too close apart and there were just too many of them. But I loved Dex and the way his thoughts worked. With Piper it was a little different. Her character made me wince sometimes and I just wished that I wouldn’t even listen to her thoughts. But with me being a girl as well, I can understand where she is coming from.

I am definitely looking forward to read the second book in this series “Charmed” which was recently published and has gained a lot of buzz around it.

After being tricked into falling in love with a demon, Indiana was banished to Earth and was forced to live in a body of a beautiful 17-year old girl for the rest of the eternity. Being beautiful was a blessing but also a curse because it caught attention of men with bad intentions.

After losing her first real friend on Earth, Indy decides to protect women from men that do not treat them right. But when she meets Nate, she knows something is off. He is after her and he is determined to make sure that she does not walk this Earth any longer. Even if she is starting to have feelings for him and knows that the world that they live in might change in the worse way possible.

OMG. I would have to say that this was by far the best “angel-demon” book that I have read so far. With amazing, detailed writing and well developed characters, this story really came to live. I had so many emotions about this book and my heart was literally pounding out of my chest when Nate started going after Indy! And she was so freaking badass! I love MC that can take care of themselves and kick some serious ass.

But it’s a cliffhanger. Totally forgot that it was only Book One and it came unexpectedly. So I will hurry up and get the second book because I’m obsessed with this series now :D

OH. MY. GOSH. 5 Incredibly Sexy & Dangerously Beautiful Scars.. ahem I mean Stars!
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Shooting Scars was an incredible story that continued with Ellie’s adventures. In this book we are able to see Ellie’s and Camden’s POV since the last time they parted their ways. Being inside of Camden’s head was incredibly refreshing and was interesting to see what he had to go through in order to “save” Ellie.

“I'd be there no matter what she chose, even if she wanted another lover, another life, I would still be there when she fell. When she wanted to run. When she wanted to come home.”

Ellie is now being captive by Javier and regrets making her choice. She doesn’t know what is happening with Camden but one thing for sure: there is something that Javier wants from her and she has no choice but to listen to him. Old feelings for him are gone but after traveling to Mexico for their mission, she is torn and confused because her heart says one thing but her mind and body – another.

“We were only our bodies, only our lust, and, maybe, just maybe, only two tortured souls.”

Camden decided to start his life over with Sophia with his son but doesn’t know if she truly trusts him. After a little mix up with her family, he contacts Gus about his new documents. But what happens throughout his journey after he decides to go after Ellie and save her, changes him from in side out.

“When you had nothing, you had to take what you could get, even if you knew it would hurt you in the end. A love that starts out under a lie is bound to kill you, and sometimes you lived to tell the tale.”

[Waiting On Wednesday] #9

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, which spotlights upcoming books that we eagerly anticipate and cannot wait to get here!

Premeditated
Expected Publication: October 8th, 2013
A week ago, Dinah’s cousin Claire cut her wrists.

Five days ago, Dinah found Claire’s diary and discovered why.

Three days ago, Dinah stopped crying and came up with a plan.

Two days ago, she ditched her piercings and bleached the black dye from her hair.

Yesterday, knee socks and uniform plaid became a predator’s camouflage.

Today, she’ll find the boy who broke Claire.

By tomorrow, he’ll wish he were dead.(

WHY AM I WAITING ON IT?

Every single book that seems to have some sort of revenge-theme for it, always gets my attention! And with some bad-ass female lead?? Umm yes please! I always love when the MC is able to take care of herself and not just fall for some guy. And even though this is considered as Contemporary genre, it is mixed with YA and Mystery/Thriller which is always intriguing.

This seems to be a big hit with the Goodreads community as well! Almost every review that's already being posted seems to have steady 4-5 star ratings so I am really excited for this one!!
