Waterstone launches "Books for Syria"

I think that it is very honorable when authors or anyone that has the power to change the world is taking leadership to do something. In less than a day, authors raised £100,000 for Syrian refugees and help them during the struggle. Syria and its situation has been around news for a very long time and I am glad that although authors could be seen in their own little world, they are helping others to ensure that their life is worth living.

Some of my favorite authors have promised to match a certain amount for this movement. These are authors such as Rainbow Rowell, Gayle Foreman, Tahereh Mafi, Brandan Reichs, Ally Carter, Margaret Stohl, Jenny Han, Shannon Hale, Siobhan Vivian, Richelle Mead, and Ransom Riggs.

On top of that, some of the largest publications like Penguin Random House, HarperCollins, Hachette and Simon & Schuster are donating the biggest titles to Waterstones to sell in the book stores to raise more money.

what are your thoughts? Do you think authors are doing the right thing by trying to take this movement forward? Do you think this will make some politicians to reconsider the situation in syria?
