Hmm this is an interesting topic... I mean I really do problems with romances in books sometimes but I couldn't really pinpoint exactly on what they could have been.. However on the other side, there are also romance sides of the books that I really enjoy so let's see if I can come up with top ten..

1. Love Triangle (They're EVERYWHERE! Specially in YA genre)

2. Insta-Love (I saw you, I love you type of deal)

3. Obsessive Behavior (Often passed as 'passion')

4. Immaturity (Let's hold hands & be together forever)

5. Straight-to-Bed Couple (Slow down there Tiger!)

6. Best Friends Attraction (Friends for years, then find that spark between each other)

7. Childhood Love (Again, might fall under best friends but this is cute)

8. Heartbreaking Turn of Events (Illness, long distance, abuse, etc.)

9. Both People are Corrupted (Bad life, able to find happiness within each other)

10. Raw Emotions (Anything but not fake)

Seeker was definitely one of the novels that made me lose time & engage in the story of Quin, Shinobu, and John. Although with starting out somewhat slow, I loved the history that was held behind it & the great research that author did in order to tell us the story that went on in Scotland and Hong Kong. I'm pretty curious about how the author chose these two places because I cannot think of any other places that could have been more different. 

Story begins when Quin, her cousin Shinobu, and childhood friend John are in the middle of a fight. They have been training to take their oath as Seekers since young age and their whole life have been leading up to that moment. When John freezes up during training, Quin's dad sends him back. But one thing that he didn't know if that Quin and John have been in love for years and tried to keep their relationship away from the family. With following events, Shinobu takes Quin to Hong Kong & with her memory loss, she tried to remember everything that happened. 

This was interesting. One thing that I really wish was established in the book more is the explanation of what the Seeker really is. It slightly grazes over it but I really wish it would tell us more about it. Third-person POV was good to read because we could see the different sides of the story and I really liked the characters. There was also some love-triangle going on. At some point you think that every one of character is a "villain" of the story and Quin goes between John and Shinobu. I understand how John could be in this but Shinobu was her cousin and I just thought that was a little weird. 

Overall, this novel really turned out to be intense. I loved the story and cannot wait to see what happens next! Oh & YES! There will be a movie coming out based on this book! #fangirling

The whole aspect of having one currency is a little scary but it can also resolve a lot of the things that cause the world to be on the edge of collapsing itself. But that is exactly what happens in Enslavement where the OneEarth Bank becomes in charge and changes the way people pay. The way this was put together is that all you have to do is to listen to OneEarth Bank and you receive commerce chip which could let you buy into the store and buy whatever you want without using credit cards or cash. 

When Rielle's family refuses to follow OneEarth Bank's rules and wants to go against them, she is forced to pay for their crimes. With so many secrets in the mansion, Rielle will need to save her family and figure out what the future holds now that she wants to stand up to the big guys.

Final thought? I thought this was definitely an interesting way to write Dystopia novel. There definitely has to be a good world building and good strategy in what the novel is actually all about. And even though I enjoyed it, I thought it was a little close to home. We do have ApplePay now which, funny enough, could be viewed as the commerce chip that people use to pay for anything.

BY THE TIME SHE HIKED down the steep embankment and around the tide pools to her cove, the pressure in her chest squeezed so tight, black spots floated in her vision. Not a good sign. It had only been five days since her last swim— usually she was good for seven. 

Emma hung her bag on a rock that jutted out of the cave wall and stripped off her clothes, breathing deep, squeezing her hands into fists to avoid the panic creeping up on her. Panicking stole precious air from her half-converted lungs, and she was already on the verge of passing out. 

If she did pass out, she couldn’t get to the water, and if she couldn’t get to the water, this terrible pressure wouldn’t ease, and if the pressure didn’t ease, she would soon stop breathing altogether. It would be hours before anyone missed her and came looking, and by that time, she’d be shriveled like a washed-up fish, and probably just as dead.

By the time she’d put on her suit, her vision blurred and she had to step carefully, trailing her hand along the wall of the shallow cave so she wouldn’t trip and hurt herself before she got to the water. Finally at the edge, she sucked in a last breath of air and dove, relieved as slits opened up to gills in the side of her neck and water filtered through them, finally allowing her lungs to expand.

Book Nerd Spotlight

Diantha Jones was born the day thousands of turkeys sacrificed their lives to fill millions of American bellies on November 22 which also happened to be Thanksgiving Day (Her mother says she owes her a turkey).
