[Book Review] Hidden Wings by Cameo Renae

Hidden Wings (Hidden Wings, #1)Hidden Wings
Cameo Renae
Seventeen is a life changing age for Emma Wise.
As her family's sole survivor in a car crash, she is left with a broken arm and a few scrapes and bruises. But these are only outward marks; inside, her heart is broken and the pieces scattered.

Whisked away to Alaska, to an aunt she’s never met, Emma starts over. Secrets unveil themselves and now…she doesn't even know who or what she is.

A centuries old prophecy places Emma in the heart of danger. Creatures of horrifying and evil proportions are after her, and it will take Emma, her aunt, and six, gorgeously captivating Guardians to keep her safe. But, if she can survive until her eighteenth birthday... things will change.

"Welcome to your new life, Emma. Instead of good night, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite... it was... make sure your doors and windows are bolted shut, and check your closet and under your bed before you go to sleep, or the Darkling and Fallen Angels will come out and get you!"

After getting into an accident, Emma Wise was lucky to come out of it with few broken bones. But her parents were dead and some aunt from Alaska wanted to stay with her for a year. Even though she never met her and didn't even know she existed. Sending "escorts" for Emma to take her to Alaska seemed a little out of ordinary but soon she will learn that they are, in fact, her Guardian Angels and discover the truth about who she really is will change her forever.

………………………………………………………………………

As my 4 star rating says - I really liked the book. I was a little surprised because usually all Angel/Demon stories are all the same but this was definitely different. Emma's secret was kept pretty safe all through the book and when there was a chance for me to finally find out who she was - BOOOOOM! - brain teaser. & as soon as I finally learned who she was, they were in the middle of some awesome sword fighting and totally kicking ass!

I really liked most of the characters, except maybe Emma sometimes. She is only 17 so I understand when she's acting a little immature. It didn't ruin the story for me. But I did love Alaine and all the gorgeous boys. I can't believe they were actually made killing Darklings a game! I can actually imagine those model-looking boys making a bet about it. Totally made me laugh.

So if you are into paranormal, romance, YA, forbidden love stories - this is for you. The writing keeps you on your toes and makes you want to finally figure out what's going on.

[Book Review] Recalled by Cambria Hebert

Recalled (Death Escorts, #1)Recalled
Cambria Hebert
Sometimes the right choice can be the deadliest.

When Ellie Watt made the ultimate sacrifice for Camden McQueen, she never thought it would be easy. But walking away with her ex-lover, Javier Bernal, in order to ensure Camden’s safety has brought a whole new set of dangers. With Javier’s plans for Ellie growing more secretive by the moment, Ellie must find a way to stay ahead of the game before her past swallows her whole.

Meanwhile, Camden’s new life is short-lived. Fueled by revenge and pursued by authorities, he teams up with an unlikely partner in order to save Ellie. But as Camden toes the line between love and retribution, he realizes that in order to get back the woman he loves, he may have to lose himself in the process. He might just turn into the very man he’s hunting.

He knew that he was going to hell since he was 10. Murdering a person definitely wouldn’t look good on his life application. But when an unexpected turns of events happens and he dies, he is faced with a decision of life and death with no other but the Grim Reaper.

Agreeing on working for G. R., Dex will have everything. Money, power, and eternity to live. All he needs to do is take someone’s life. But when he meets his Target, he doesn’t know if he can do it. Piper is beautiful, smart, and she is the first person who actually cares about him. Now he would have to decide if saving her would be worth being Recalled.

"I’d done a lot of crappy things in my life, but lying here in this bed felt like the worst. I didn’t deserve her trust, yet I had it. I wasn’t fit to breathe the same air as her.”

Recalled has been a very interesting and fast-paced read. I thought that all the “incidents” were too close apart and there were just too many of them. But I loved Dex and the way his thoughts worked. With Piper it was a little different. Her character made me wince sometimes and I just wished that I wouldn’t even listen to her thoughts. But with me being a girl as well, I can understand where she is coming from.

I am definitely looking forward to read the second book in this series “Charmed” which was recently published and has gained a lot of buzz around it.
